Bonnie F. Bongard, M.D. is an Ophthalmologist at Northwest Eye practicing general ophthalmology. She has been practicing ophthalmology for more than 30 years and has been a member of Northwest Eye’s respected team of doctors since 2001.
Dr. Bongard earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, followed by her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. She completed her internship at Butterworth Hospital in Michigan and her residency at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Bongard is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Ophthalmology
Married 33 years, Dr. Bongard met her husband in medical school and they married soon after graduating. They are the proud parents of three grown children. Their two sons decided to follow their parent’s in the field of medicine while their daughter decided to use her skills to help animals in the field of veterinary medicine. Outside of Northwest Eye, Dr. Bongard enjoys swimming, water activities, yoga, cooking, and baking, as well as gardening with her husband. She also enjoys visiting the hospice and memory care patients with her therapy dog Tucker. She is also an active volunteer at Beth El Synagogue.
Dr. Bongard finds spending time with each patient to address their individual needs and developing a plan that suits those unique needs the most rewarding part of her job. She truly enjoys the variety of patients of all ages she gets to see in ophthalmology. Having had the privilege of treating many of her patients for many, many years, they have become like extended family and sharing their lives and watching their families grow is her favorite part of her job.
