Dry Eye Care

Be Eye Wise and understand that dry eye is not normal. Instead, it’s a painful condition that impacts the health of your eyes. Dry eye occurs when the eye no longer creates adequate tears, specifically the water within the tear film. The medical term for this condition is keratoconjunctivitis sicca (ker-uh-toe-kun-junk-tih-VY-tis SIK-uh).

Dry eye is a very common occurrence with aging, but time is not the only factor that causes dry eye or inadequate tears. Understanding the root cause is a major aspect of a dry eye diagnosis. That’s why Northwest Eye has opened the Dry Eye & Blepharitis Center to provide patients with the tools, time and treatment to properly diagnosis and relieve their dry eye symptoms.

No one needs to live with the pain and discomfort of dry eyes. There are numerous dry eye treatment options available to you. To learn all you can about dry eye, please schedule an appointment with a Northwest Eye Clinic doctor. Because the more you know, the better you see.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Blepharoplasty, commonly known as cosmetic eyelid surgery, is a procedure that rejuvenates the eyelids and area around the eye. If your eyelids are suffering from dermatochalasis, a sagging, droopy or puffy eyelid, your face will look fatigued, sad and tired – despite good health and adequate rest. Blepharoplasty tightens droopy eyelids to rejuvenate your face and give your eyes a bright and alert appearance.

Blepharoplasty is the most common facial plastic surgery procedure for the upper or lower eyelid.

• Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty removes obstructed vision due to a droopy upper lid. With a medical diagnosis, the upper lid procedure is often covered by insurance.

• Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty is typically done for cosmetic purposes to lift and tighten the skin around the lower eye area, reducing bags, bulges and wrinkles.

Since every eyelid is unique in shape, size and composition of skin and fat every procedure is tailored to your eyelid and face. The right combination of skin and fat removal, repositioning and tightening is essential for a rejuvenated and youthful appearance.

Be Eye Wise and schedule an appointment with Northwest Eye Blepharoplasty surgeon Dr. Nicholas Schmitt, who will answer any questions you have around the procedure.
