Matthew R. Ramsey, M.D., is an Ophthalmologist serving the Twin Cities community through is work at Northwest Eye. Dr. Ramsey practices comprehensive ophthalmology and is focused on helping patients see clearer through the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of cataracts and other refractive errors.
Dr. Ramsey has been a member of the Northwest Eye team since 2010. Throughout this time, the most rewarding part of his work is building relationships with patients and learning about their lives beyond their eye conditions.
Dr. Ramsey earned his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Olaf College and his Doctor of Medicine at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He went on to complete residency programs at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Darby, PA, and Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Ramsey is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Ramsey shares his life with his wife, Erika, and their two children. Outside of his practice, he is an active athlete, participating in triathlon competitions. He also enjoys going north to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and spending time on the lakes around the Twin Cities.
Dr. Ramsey was first inspired to become an eye doctor by his father, who practices ophthalmology in Salt Lake City. He spent many of his younger years working as an ophthalmic technician at his father’s office, earning money for college and graduate courses.
Dr. Ramsey sees patients at our Golden Valley, Maple Grove, St. Anthony and Wayzata Northwest Eye locations.
