Dr. Engel is thorough and does a great job with my little guy who is 6 and has Down syndrome. Besides the typical eye check-up, Dr. Engel addressed my concerns regarding tear ducts and my little guy having a 'lazy' eye and/or crossed eyes at times. Most definitely worth the 2 hour drive for pediatric care! Dr. Decanini was FABULOUS with my 2.5 yr old with autism. We have had 2 awful experiences elsewhere so I was leary of trying a third time. The Dr. walked in the room with a bag of toys and sat right down on the floor with my little. Both her and the assistant sang songs and interacted. We've been going to Northwest'a Pediatric Eye Clinic for more than a decade and the staff here have always been thorough and caring. From a four year old with double vision to an autistic child terrified of the eyedrops to a teenager being monitored for a inherited cornea issue, they have been great. We have been seeing Dr. Freeman since 2009 and he has been awesome to both of our boys. He performed an eye surgery on our younger son when he was was 17 months old. Our boys have been doing great since they have been in Dr. Freeman’s care. Their vision and results have tremendously changed. I really appreciate how seriously Dr.Freeman takes his job, accessing eye conditions and advocating for young patients that cannot speak up for themselves. He is very direct and at first I was shocked. He told me if my daughter's eye condition wasn't taken seriously she would be legally blind in one of her eyes. I was beside myself with worry. But honestly if he hadn't been very clear with us, how would we ever know that if not properly addressed, our child's sight could continue to decline? We have been seeing him for 3 years now. By choice I wouldn't trust my child's eye care needs to anyone else. He cares enough to let parents hear the truth and choose to be the best coaches they can be for getting their kids to wear glasses and patch their eyes for the sake of the best results possible.The eyeglasses store we went to gave my daughter the wrong prescription and her glasses were ill fitting. Dr. Freeman was outraged and emailed them immediately. He took care of the whole thing and made sure it was corrected and we were not charged by the eye glasses store. We wish Northwest Eye accepted our vision insurance for glasses because we know how exceptional they are. Simply the best! My daughter's eye sight continues to improve, she patched and no longer has to do so, she is proud of her glasses and puts them on before she even gets out of bed in the morning. Best time/money/and concern I have ever spent on any medical concern my kids have had. I also want to recognize Laura (? I sincerely hope I have the right name! I would have made sure I did if I knew I would feel inspired to write a review, I almost never write reviews) who does my daughter's initial eye exams. She is just great, very nice, professional and has a wonderful calming presence. She is an intelligent professional. The ladies at the front desk are excellent. They too, are true professionals, I have never had such a positive experience every time with being checked in for appointments and dealing with insurance. They could teach customer service classes. The woman that works the front desk that also does glasses fittings is awesome. She always, in such a friendly non pushy way tries to get us to buy glasses from N.W.E. and I WISH our insurance worked with the clinic because I love her and I see her work with other patients and I am so impressed. I was nervous bringing in my 2 and 4 year old for their appointment as I was told to expect to be there a minimum of 2 hrs being that they were new patients. The staff was patient and had the small office set up with a movie, bean bag chairs and toys while we waited, making our time there as painless as possible. The staff has been very good with my son's care, from birth to current age (4yo). He was born with a non-malignant cataract in his right eye, hence having us have to make quarterly appointments at first and now annual appointments for preventative care. Dr. P is amazing!! From the first day we met her we felt 100% informed and comfortable with her performing eye surgery on my 2 yr old daughter. My daughter talks about Dr. P all the time, she even pretends she is Dr. P when playing with her babies. As a mother it's very difficult for me to trust anyone with my child's health but Dr. P broke down that barrier for me.
